This photograph is one out of a series I took, to address the danger of an increasing light pollution and hence the steady progress of loss of night (especially in urban areas). Since electrical energy remains cheap and LED technology is constantly driven by innovation, I do experience a slow increase of light pollution every year in my home town the city of Dresden. With my current project I want to address this topic to the public hoping that people starting to become aware of the negative consequences for animals and humans. I'm using photography to address this topic I care so much because it seems much more attractive to people than a single blog post about light pollution. People wonder of how I achieved such photograph with my hardware since the stars are far less visible by human eyes. This interest I use to explain not only the techniques I developed for my night photography but also to inform that about light pollution at all. The photograph shows the inner city of Dresden (Germany) which is still being rebuilt after destruction in World War II. I used a fish eye lens from Sigma on my Nikon D610 and exposed for the sky for several hours. The foreground has been achieved by manual exposure blending. For the background I used several thousand photos which I took at the same spot as the foreground photos!
